DMS Client Christmas Function
DMS Staff and customers experienced a delightful evening at The Greek Club celebrating another great year of working together.
DMS' CEO Mike French spoke about how it is the partnerships we establish with our clients that are the important things.
Dimitri and Dimitri provided a delicate ambience with their live bouzouki music (from traditional through to Hotel California?!) and the latter part of the evening was enjoyed by those whose feet turned to tango.

DMS back up and running after QLD Floods
Two weeks ago, Brisbane experienced unprecedented levels of flooding. The Milton area where DMS's office is located was largely under water.
As soon as we were able to get access to our building we relocated our major servers to our backup site and put as much as we could back into place.
Most of the websites and services we host were restored temporarily in a new location.
Electricity was restored to our office on Monday 17th of January, and on Tuesday we were able to move back into the office and get all services back up and running normally.
We thank all of our customers for their patience and understanding during this difficult time.
The DMS staff would also like to extend a very special thank you to all of our customers and business partners who phoned to check if we were OK.
Flooding in Milton
The water reached just a couple of feet below the bottom step to our premises. Unfortunately, most of the rest on our street were not so fortunate. Both across the road and those down from the building next door, the water reached the ceilings.
Now that the flood waters are receding things are changing here very quickly. Everyone in Brisbane has been amazed at how the entire city is pitching in and getting things done. Major roads are now open again and armies of volunteers are just turning up to help those in need.
We urge you to help Queenslanders recover from the devastating effects of the floods by donating to the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal. More information on how to donate can be found here.
Many Queensland businesses have suffered as a result of flood damage and power losses over the last week. One of the best ways you can help out is to keep QLD businesses up and running. Any business and services you can purchase from QLD companies will be greatly appreciated.
Below are a few pictures from Douglas Street where the DMS office is located.

POSTman Upgrades
This is a big release of our Postal Barcoding and List Management software range.
There are some things we have done and some things you will need to do on this update.
Office 2010 is now supported by POSTman and you use it in the same way as you did in Office 2007.
Ctrl-Alt-P - a new keyboard shortcut has been added in both Word and Excel to launch POSTman without having to go to the Add-Ins menu.
Sort Plans - The updated Barcode and Print Post sort plans are included in this release.
New Macros - To keep your security current we have released new Office macros with an updated Thawte code signing certificate. This means that all CLIENT installations of POSTman will have to be re-installed to update the files. This does NOT affect Main or Server installs as they are updated automatically.
Please remember NEVER USE A CD TO UPDATE A CLIENT INSTALL.

Write to Santa!
BRISBANE QLD, NOVEMBER 2009
Australia Post has a fantastic Christmas letter writing activity that your kids will love. It's the traditional Christmas letter to Santa with a twist - now St Nick has his very own mailing address, so not only can your kids post their letters to Santa, they will also receive a reply. Last year, Santa received over 100,000 handwritten letters from Aussie kids at his address in the North Pole.
However, as you can imagine, deciphering the return addresses in the children's writing was at times more than a little tricky. So this year he's enlisted the help of POSTman Rapid to sort through all of that address data so that he can be certain the children's replies reach them at the correct addresses. Of course, now that he's using this address validation software, he doesn't need to check his list twice!
You can write to Santa at
Santa
North Pole 9999
For more information, or to download some great Christmas letterheads, visit the Australia Post website.

Endeavour Succeeds With MAILman
BRISBANE QLD APRIL 15, 2008
Direct Marketing Software would like to congratulate the Endeavour Foundation on the successful execution of their recent Exclusive Limited Lottery draw. This Brisbane based charity is Australia’s largest provider of services to people with mental and physical disabilities. A major source of revenue for the Endeavour Foundation is its lotteries.
Two years ago, the Endeavour Foundation approached DMS as they were looking for a solution that would help them improve management, marketing and compliance of their lotteries. After choosing DMS’s MAILman solution the Endeavour Foundation requested a number of enhancements to the software which DMS was able to deliver in a matter of weeks. These included achieving QOGR (Queensland Office of Gaming & Racing) certification for conducting electronic draws using MAILman.
Since that time, Endeavour Foundation has been working to re-establish their Exclusive Limited Lottery. This draw marks the successful completion of the first part of this process.
I am happy to report that the MAILman solution provided all of the capabilities and the stability that Endeavour Foundation was looking for.
Both DMS and Endeavour staff are now working together on a range of enhancements to make subsequent draws even more successful.
